My husband Mickey and I started out in 1996 as Clayton Evergreen Nursery growing trees and other types of plants and perennials. In 2004 we expanded into cut flowers. In 2007 we renamed the farm to Blue Dragonfly Cut Flower Farm. We now have about 3 acres in cut flower production. We sell to local florist, and wholesalers.
We still carry trees from the Nursery side of the business. We now specialize in Japanese Maples. We carry the 'Tamukeyama', 'Red Dragon', 'Virdis', 'Emperor', and the Dwarf Japanese Maple Seedling trees. We will have the larger 'Tamukeyama' available in the fall of 2008.
One of our favorite tree which we sell also, and hard to find tree, is the 'Harry Lauder's Walking Stick tree. It is such a strange looking tree with all it's contorted limbs and always a great converstion piece when people stop to see it.
You can also find Mickey at Moore’s Square Farmers Market in Raleigh on Wednesday's from 9:00-2:00 and on Saturday's at the North Hill's Farmer's Market from 8:00-12:00. We specialize in Glads, Tuberoses, Sunflowers, Larkspur, and Zinnias along with other miscellaneous cut flowers.
